Why You Should Ditch That Timeshare Now!

Once championed as the greatest travel investment of the 90s, timeshares are now nothing more than draining liabilities on your time and resources.  Additionally, timeshare resorts have long been known to be unaccommodating, especially when it comes to trying to book that stay that you’ve already purchased.  With all of the blackout dates and restrictions, how can you even begin to find an available week to spend at those timeshare resorts?

The story hardly ends there.  If you still own a timeshare or are considering purchasing one, here’s what you need to know about these liabilities before you commit yourself to an expense that won’t pay out:

You’ll Be Slapped With Restrictions. Planning for a vacation should be almost as enjoyable as the vacation itself, right?  Not when it comes to timeshare resorts!  You’ll be forced to choose a week that’s during the off-off season (timeshares are notorious for restricting travel during peak tourist seasons), which means you’ll have to plan your entire schedule around that one week.  Let’s face it – your vacation should revolve around your plans, not the other way around!

You’ll Drain Your Bank Account Dry. Owning a week at a timeshare resort is not only inconvenient; it’s downright expensive!  There’s not just the closing cost that you have to worry about – with your timeshare, you’ll be forced to pay for hidden fees and expenses, plus yearly dues that can really put a strain on your budget.  If you want to enjoy a luxurious vacation at a resort for cheap, then timeshares certainly aren’t the way forward!

Forget About Timeshare Resales. Sure, that timeshare agent may have gone on and on about how great an investment a timeshare is.  But that same timeshare agent will also casually forget to mention that timeshare sales have plummeted due to too much supply and not enough demand.  So if you’re looking to add timeshare resales to your investment portfolio, you’re better off investing your money elsewhere – when it comes to timeshares, it’s a surefire miss!

If someone is advertising timeshares for sale, resist the temptation to check out yet another high-pressure sales pitch!  However, if you’re

still wondering how you’re going to book that luxury vacation for cheap, then it’s time to let you in on a little secret that has been well-kept since 1986.

VIP vacation clubs were once all the rage with the rich and the famous, as they could enjoy the most luxurious holidays on the planet without having to lift a finger.  For a high fee (think a whole year’s mortgage payment!), the rich and the famous could take their pick of rooms at ultra-swanky resorts during the height of tourist season.  However, the exclusivity of the VIP vacation club came to an end thanks to the marketing power of the internet – and now the same benefits are available to you for just pennies on the dollar with a Platinum Luxury Resort Membership!

Think that you’ve experienced a luxurious vacation?  Think again – with your Platinum Luxury Resort Membership, you’ll be able to stay in one of the thousands of ultra-exclusive resorts on the planet (in fact, these resorts won’t even be found on a major travel site like Expedia, Orbitz or Travelocity)!  Best of all, your Platinum Luxury Resort Membership has no restrictions and absolutely no blackout dates – so if you feel like staying at that ultra-hip five-star resort in Hawaii during the height of tourist season, then your membership will make it that much more simple to book the vacation of a lifetime!

Unlike memberships with timeshare resorts, your Platinum Luxury Resort Membership doesn’t have any hidden costs or annual dues to keep up with.  You’ll just pay a small fee for your membership, which will be valid for the rest of your life; after all, there’s no need to break the bank just to be able to enjoy the kind of luxury vacation that should be accessible to everyone.  Just ask your timeshare agent if you can get the same kind of deal; you’ll be laughed right out of the office!

Those would be some exaggerated reasons to not buy a timeshare, but I don’t see how ditching one’s timeshare and incurring a loss is helpful advice.

  3. Steve says:

The concept was to “ditch the idea of buying a timeshare” as there are far better ways to receive all the benefits of spending time at the same type of luxury resort without all the hidden “timeshare fees”.
I have links in my left boarder to timeshare relief who may be able to assist a sale of your timeshare. Sure you may incur a loss now, but if time goes on I’m sure the accumulated fees will create a greater loss in the future. It may actually be wise to take the loss now and free yourself of this burden.
Anyway, again, timeshare relief may assist.

    Best of Luck,
    Steve

  4. The costs associated with timeshare really don’t pay out. If you still own one, you’d better get rid of it as soon as possible. There are a number of companies out there who can transfer your ownership to another interested individual in a short span of time.
