My name is Steve Metcalfe from Perth, Western Australia.

If I could only share one thing with you about me it would be that I’m a Geophysicist and I have been working offshore on research vessels for the past 14-15 years.

This role has taken me all over the world from Tasmania in Australia, throughout S/E Asia, India, Africa, Brazil, Mexico, USA & Canada. It has been a very rewarding experience, for I have met many great people from different countries and cultures.

Praise God that one of the greatest decisions I ever made in my life, that effects me to this very day, was my decision to live in Thailand. In April of 1996 I decided to live on the island of Phuket. This is where I met my beautiful wife, Apuntee. I still can remember to this very day in one of my wife’s very early letters, she had written that she dreamed of the day when she’d be married to me living in our own house with our own beautiful children.

We moved back to Perth, Western Australia happily married with our three very lovely daughters Jessica, Sharlene & Namfon who are 7, 9 & 15 years of age; but unfortunately that only lasted for 7 years. Mysteriously we drifted apart and today we have separated …. seems to happen to most people, but I’m determined to not let it sway my focus on building an online business so that I can kiss the offshore life goodbye.

Collectively, I’ve spent over 7 years of my life working offshore … yes, 7 continuous years, if I combine all my offshore time together. This ultimately meant I was away from my beautiful family. I am determined to grow a business online into a multi-million dollar dynasty over the years to come. This will enable me to return home to be with my family. My children are growing very fast these days and I hope that they will remember and want to share their lives with me as they grow into adults. I’m hoping to be a major mentor in their lives from now on and I truly don’t want to see them working for someone else, thus getting trapped in the 9 to 5 rat race.

You could say that life gets complicated, people drift apart and ideas change. But the truth remains that I have 3 lovely daughters that I am still responsible for and while I have drifted away from their Mother, I never shirk my responsibilities.

2008 has been a remarkable year. I finally turned 40 and “started to live”, I got myself an awesome job working out of Norway and I have met an amazing woman to share time with. These three ingredients have made me a better person and in time my “master stroke” will occur that will see me living with my children once again. for that is my main goal.

2009 started in magical style. I founded a wonderful business called HolidayTravelAccommodations that I can truly relate to having personally traveled the world many times and stayed in four and five star resorts myself.     Great press release, and blog. I have found it interesting reading, and to see that you came from Perth, which is where I am too! In the world of internet marketing, being in Perth feels very far away from all the marketers in the USA, so it’s great to know that there are other marketers in Australia (: I wish you well on your journey.

    Sawadee Kha! I’m about to go to Phuket and I’m very excited about my holiday. Already booked my flight to Suvamabhumi Airport and from there I’ll go travel around Chiang Mai and of course Phuket, I found your awesome site on Msn and it seems that you know a lot about Thailand. Would you kindly give me a hint where to stay in Phuket Island? I’ve read there are a couple of fantastic resorts in the main town and in the southeast… Thank you in advance!

    Hey Donya Sawadee Craap, to you.

    Phuket is awesome. I’m actually planning another trip there in April. But will be going after Songhcraan. This time I’m going to plan to stay in Raawi but that’s a bit away from the tourist areas of Patong, Karon and Kata Beaches. The last time I visited Patong was about 3 years ago and I must say there’s been a massive development going on since I was there in 2004.
    Usually when I stay in Phuket, I like to stay at Karon Beach, no places in particular take my fancy. It’s always best to check out what’s on offer at the time through Agoda.com.
    But before I end my research I’ll definitely see what’s available through our luxury Resort Membership. I might save myself a few thousand baht. :-)
